Beyond Shapes & Beats: A JSaB Anniversary Fanzine is a free, digital, SFW fanzine celebrating the game JSaB and the incredibly creative community around it. We hope to highlight the original game, what it means to its fans, and the creative ways the community makes it their own. We want to showcase the canon game, the AUs that helped build this fandom, and the individual AUs of our contributors. The zine will have a mix of artworks, short comics, writing, music, and more, all created by fans, for fans!How much does the zine cost?
Beyond Shapes & Beats is 100% free!Will there be physical copies of this zine?
No, Beyond Shapes & Beats and any merch alongside it will be digital-only. There will be a PDF download of the zine, and any merch we do will be available in either PNG or PDF format, depending on what it is.When will the zine come out?
We plan to release the zine on May 31st, 2026 for the Just Shapes & Beats 8th anniversary! You can view our full schedule here.How can I contribute to this zine?
Contributor applications open November 10, 2025!I've never been in a zine before, can I apply?
Of course! This zine is beginner-friendly, and open to all artistic styles and abilities.I want to make something besides a drawing or writing for the zine, can I apply?
Yes! We are open to all forms of art, and the digital zine format allows us to include things we couldn't in a physical format, such as music and animation. We will have a special application form for anyone who wants to contribute something unique!How can I support this zine?
Spread the word! Follow us on Tumblr and Bluesky, share our posts, and tell people about the project. And don't forget to download the zine when it releases!

Schedule

All check-ins occur on the last day of the month, except for the final check-in, which is a week before the final submission is due. We made sure to include a holiday break, so no one feels the need to rush through their work during such a busy time of year. Up to 7-day extensions on check-ins are available if mods are alerted ahead of time.
